Yum. Jelly.
So my summer classes seem to be the most ridiculous things possible. They're all internet classes, which is great because then I don't have to worry about getting across town after work in time to make it, but still. These professors may possibly be insane. One has an Attendance policy on an internet course, which is minorly ridiculous seeing as how the entire point of distance learning is to take it at your own pace to work around work schedules. Having to log in twice a week (at minimum) isn't too bad but the principle of it is kind of dumb.

At any rate, I'm taking a film history class (again. Seeing as how they conveniently keep losing my transcripts every time I have them sent from UCF, where I took this class my first semester there and got an A without even trying I'm kind of annoyed at taking it again, but it's one of the few classes left that are even remotely interesting), so that's fun because I get to watch movies...except it's the most intense film history class I've ever heard of. Not only are there weekly analysises of the films, but there's also some PBS series that I have to not only buy from the bookstore, but then write weekly papers on, as well as a midterm, a final, and then a 12 page research paper on a topic that I have to write a bloody proposal for before he will accept the topic. Plus he grades on an 8 point scale, so a 92%? That's a B. I hated that crap in high school (that was our grading scale, which did Wonders for my high school transcripts. Nothing like my transcripts showing a B for a freaking 92%, or a C for an 84%. Lovely).

However, the film list looks interesting, as I've only actually seen one of the films I have to watch (which is The Gold Rush with Charlie Chaplin, which I LOVE).

The list is:
- Movie of choice (I'm tempted to pick something like Shaun of the Dead just to mess with him)
- The Gold Rush
- -Scarface (1932, black and white, not Pacino version)
- Duck Soup (which I'm pretty sure I've watched with my grandfather before, but YAY! Marx Brothers!);
-Citizen Kane (which I have never seen. Yes I know that makes me horrible ex film major, but honestly, I never wanted to see it simply Because it's the "number one film of all time").
- All About Eve
- The Searchers (Oh god it's a John Wayne movie. I can't listen to that guy's voice. It bothers me for some reason).
-Some Like It Hot
- Patton
- Double Indemnity
- Rebel Without A Cause
- Goodfellas (speaking of guys whose voices I can't stand -_-)
- Do The Right Thing

So yeah. All that mixed with these PBS shows I gotta buy = lots of time in front of the TV (or computer) for me. I'm really hoping I can find most of these movies free online. I'd really rather not a) have to scour every Blockbuster in the Pittsburgh area for them, or b) have to bother with actually succumbing to the trend of Netflix (which prolly wouldn't have the more obscure ones anyhow).

I'm also taking web design (which is the class with the "attendance policy", which should be pretty easy...except that there are actual tests on things like the history of the internet. And here I was hoping I could just bs my way through some HTML. Damnit. Oh, and Psych 101, which I find amusing because I've already mostly exhausted the school's pysch department, but I've never taken 101. Silly CCAC and their lack of pre-recs.

My shoulder is killing me for some reason. I'm gonna take a hot shower and get to bed. Hooray.

Check your local library for the PBS movies instead of buying them. A lot of them you can probably get through inter-library loans.
I took most of my classes online, and they are more intense than showing up for classes in person for some reason. Summer one's I'd find myself on there every day for the most part.

Good Luck!

some like it hot is awesome! great movie :-)

and I second the library recommendation. I get all the movies I want via the library. netflix does have lots of less popular stuff, but the library has a distinct advantage in being free.

1. You're lucky. I took an internet class where we had to meet at a specific time, along with the bi-weekly log ins.

2. But for the record, that is a pretty good list of movies. All About Eve is SO INCREDIBLY GOOD. The writing will knock your socks off.

3. I disagree about Netflix, they actually have a lot of obscure movie titles.
